Skill Level: Pretty Darn Easy (and yet, oh, so pretty.)

This was originally created as my version of a ‘yarn bowl’. While I LOVE my ceramic versions, I found I had to be careful I didn’t break them with two kids and a dog. Creating one out of wool or cotton proved to be perfect - the working yarn grabs the basket, you can sit it next to you with no worries, and it looks pretty just sitting there. It is also a fun little ‘catch all’ basket to hold virtually anything - car keys, spare change, special objects, items you treasure. It is extremely easy to make, with subtle, (but important!), shaping. They can also have a wood bottom insert (or decorative plate) just for fun with the added benefit of giving it additional structure & interest. Using this pattern, this basket can be made any size you would like.

You can use wool and felt it, or, as in the cream or orange colored versions, use cotton. The cuff is also a perfect place to add embellishments.

Grommets & wood insert/plate not required to complete it, but either are a fun addition. Most of the additional requirements/options can be found under the ‘Details/Materials’ tab in my Etsy shop. It can also be purchased there as a PRINTED PATTERN - printed in color on heavy weight cream stock.

These are so fun to make & make great gifts - the uses are endless!
