Use your crochet skills to create a cute cube for a baby or toddler, featuring A, B and C letters, with motif pictures that go with them: Apple, Bell and Car.
Alternatively, try making the motifs in a superchunky yarn for a really big square that would make a nice mat or lap blanket for a nursery.
Pattern for six squares is given in UK crochet terms and US crochet terms.
Each square is made using double crochet (US single crochet) stitches, following a simple colour chart.
You will need any 4ply yarn and a 3mm (US C-2 or D-3) hook.
I used West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply (75% wool, 25% nylon, 100g/400m), 1 ball each of Yarn A Poppy Grey (600), Yarn B Sour Apple (390).
Each finished square measures 13.5cm square.
Finished cube measures 13.5cm in each direction.
When making up, you could add a bell to the centre of the stuffing to make the cube a stimulating treat for baby’s ears as well as their eyes and hands!
