This pattern uses knit and purl stitches to form ABC blocks on the front and on the heels. To make things interesting, the letters go in different directions on the right and left socks. The socks are top-down with a heel flap and gusset. The instructions include charts for the patterned sections.

The pattern appears best in a solid or semi-solid yarn with good stitch definition. The yarn used in the sample socks is Hazel Knits Artisan Sock (90% superwash merino, 10% nylon) in Terrywinkle.

Beginner sock knitters should find the ABC socks to be a comfortable introduction to sock knitting. These socks might make a fun present for moms and teachers!
