Adventure Knitting 2: The Mysterious Trunk
Choose each element of your mysterious trunk knitting adventure, picking the shape/item and patterns you like best, or choosing randomly by using the fortune telling items - a symbol-filled board, a customizable fortune teller, a deck of divination cards, and a numerology sheet. For this knitting adventure, you’ll not only discover pages full of patterns, but also (printable) items which can help you choose your knit elements at random… or which can help the spirits guide your choices!
The ebook/book full of knitting options will make different kinds of shawls, cowls, scarves, dishcloths, or you can go wild and make a top or a blanket, all in custom sizes, and any weight yarn. All shapes/items are worked flat, using increases and decreases for shaping; the different stitch patterns you can pick may involve twisted stitches, lace, textures, slip-stitch designs, optional simple colorwork - they range in difficulty level, and since there are 24 to choose from, you can easily skip any that don’t appeal to you.
The 24 stitch patterns are both written and charted, and the 6 shape patterns (divided into 3 sections) are written out, with some symbols used as a visual reference.
The pdf includes a complete ebook plus a DIY foldable, bindable, covered print book!
There are written book making tutorials included in the pdf (and on leethalknits); there is also a video from the first Adventure Knitting book with a full video tutorial for folding and binding the book - that one was fewer pages, but it’s made using the same techniques.
The ebook and print book are fully illustrated with drawings throughout, and process photos are included for the different shape patterns.
The pdf is organized to prevent unnecessary printing of extra pages, large photos, etc - print only the pages you need, as explained on the cover page. You can print the whole pattern collection and extra information (including book making tutorials, sample photos, and extra notes) on 21 printer pages (14 of those pages will fold into the 112 page book), plus whichever fortune telling items you want to print out. The ebook is the first 49 pages of the pdf (which includes 7 pages of detailed sample pieces notes/photos).
A print book of Adventure Knitting 2 is coming soon!
How much yarn you’ll need will depend on your item, yarn weight, etc. Most items range around 2-3 skeins of yarn (standard skein sizes; the small dishcloths and kerchief use less yarn) in any weight. Some items work better in heavier weight ranges, others in lighter weights; those details are in the book, but all patterns are written for any gauge.
(Side note: This collection began as a mystery knit-a-long in the summer of 2014, and it was tons of fun! If you like the idea of an adventure KAL, follow leethal (in the ravelry group, or blog, or the social media of your choice) so that you’ll learn about any future KALs or other adventurous events!)
