This fun-to-knit accessory is designed for those gorgeous advent calendar mini skeins (or any other mini skeins or scrap yarns you may have laying about). This one is specifically designed for the calendars where the colours are arranged in a fade or gradient, though it will happily work with any mini-skein calendar you have.
The main pictured project shows the pattern after blocking as lovely undulating lace. If you block very gently, with almost no stretching, only some shaping, you have a lovely, deeply textured, rippled scarf or cowl (if you join the ends).
You can work this project with advent calendars that have mini skeins as small as 2.5 g (11–12 yards) and up. A chart in the instructions shows the dimensions and styles of finished project that you can make depending on the length of the yarn in your advent calendar.

With 2.5 g mini skeins, you can make:
a textured scarf approximately 13 cm by 83 cm (5 ¼” by 33”).
a lace scarf approximately 18 cm by 110 cm (7 ¼” by 44”).

With 5 g mini skeins, you can make:
a textured scarf approximately 13 cm by 170 cm (5 ¼” by 64”) or 25 cm by 83 cm (10” by 33”).
a lace scarf approximately 18 cm by 110 cm (7 ¼” by 85”) or 34 cm by 110 cm (13 ¾” by 44”).

With 10 g mini skeins, you can make:
a textured scarf or wrap approximately 25 cm by 160 cm (10” by 64”) or 52 cm by 83 cm (20 ¾” by 33”).
a lace scarf or wrap approximately a lace scarf approximately 34 cm by 213 cm (13 ¾” by 85”) or 72 cm by 110 cm (28 ¾” by 44”).

With 20 g mini skeins, you can make:
a textured wrap approximately 52 cm by 160 cm (20 ¾” by 63 ¾”)
a lace wrap approximately 72 cm by 198 cm
28 ¾“ by 79 ¼”

The textured gauge is approximately 36 sts and 36 rows per 10 cm (4”).

Gauge is not essential, that is, the number of stitches and rows per 10 cm (4”) are not vital. However, the amount of knitting you can do with the yarn you have is essential. Please follow the instructions for Day 1 (or Day 2 if you are doing the longer scarf) to ensure that you will have enough yarn each day to complete your knitting.
