THIS IS A BETA VERSION WITH MINIMAL WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS, WORKING MAINLY FROM CHARTS

The full version of the shawl will be released in the beginning of March after test knitting is over.

Aetheria was one of the Heliades, the children of god Helios (the Sun) and Clymene (who was an Oceanid – a sea nymph), and the sister of the famous Phaeton. Helios had a chariot which he rode everyday bringing day light to people. One day Paethon took the chariot for a ride but he was too weak to control the divine horses. The chariot came too close to earth putting the whole world in danger of being burnt and Zeus, in order to prevent any such tragedy, killed him with a thunderbolt. Aetheria and her sisters wept uncontrollably for four months, mourning for their brother’s loss. After that the gods took pity on them and turned the maidens into poplar trees, changing their tears to amber.

This shawl can be knitted with lace, fingering, sport, DK or worsted weight yarn. Gauge is not important. I recommend using needles 2 sizes larger than the needles recommended for your yarn. The size of your shawl and the yardage needed will vary depending on the yarn and needles used. You can add more repeats if you want a larger shawl, the pattern is very versatile.

You can knit it either as a triangle or as a square, if you choose square then knitting it with DK or worsted weight yarn will give you a nice throw.
