I am fascinated by designs that are perfect for any gender. This cowl is specifically designed to be worn by anyone. Afreet is a powerful, winged creature from Arabic folklore that can be either male or female. This cowl has the ability to change it’s appearance from draped cowl to tucked French knot in the DK version or from tall, cozy neckwarmer to headband in the bulky version.

Details: Afreet is cast on at one end and knit in one piece. There is an option for using a provisional cast on or not. Once the knitting is complete the piece is blocked and seamed. The cable motif is a combination of 2x2 cables, ribbing, and reverse stockinette.

Size: DK: 50 in x 5 in; Bulky: 21 in x 7 in

Yarn and Needles:
DK version on him: 1 hank Traveller in The Beeches of Dodona; size 7/4.5mm

Bulky version on her: 1 hank Odyssey in Erkling in White; size 10/6.0mm needle

Gauge:

DK (blocked): 1 pattern repeat measures 5.5 in wide x 4 in tall

Bulky (unblocked): 1 pattern repeat measures 7 in wide x 6 in tall

Note: Bulky Cowl Gauge: In order to maximize the yardage it is important not to skip swatching. The gauge is given unblocked so that you can accurately measure your work on the needles as you progress through the pattern. Finished measurements are an approximate and may change with blocking.

Traveller is erroneously listed as worsted in the pattern. The weight should be DK.
