Another Buddy from my African Flower Blanket Buddy collection…the African Peacock Blanket Buddy!

The African Flower motif I used for this pattern was originally published by Lounette Fourie and Anita Roussouw in a South African Magazine called “Sarie”, You can find all kinds of versions of this flower on the web, including charts (if you work better from charts). I’ve taken that flower motif, tweaked it just a bit to make it work for me, and used it to make up the blanket part of this Blanket Buddy. In this pattern I’ve included a written description as well as pictures of each step to show exactly how the flower is made. Then I describe how to make the amigurumi parts and how to attach everything to make your own Peacock Blanket Buddy.

This Blanket Buddy works up to a nice car seat blanket size, perfect for dragging behind a toddler on all their adventures or to be squished up and snuggled with at bedtime. It measures 24-26 inches across at the bottom of the “tailfeathers” when the blanket is spread out. The stitches used in the pattern include sc, hdc, dc, chain, dc2tog and sc2tog. And “he” can be made into a “she” just by changing your color choices.
