Pull up a comfy chair and join us! Cooler weather is here and it is time to cozy up to the fire and lose ourselves in some glorious knitting time! Join us as we create a luxurious circular cape with lots of texture, cables, lace and optional beadwork.

Originally released as part of our 2014 year of Mystery Knit Along’s, we recap some of the wonderful techniques and skills we’ve covered and learn some new things too. We will be knitting this long, cozy capelike shawl in a single color of luxurious, fingering weight yarn. Beading is optional, but a great introduction to using beads. Choice of 2 sizes.

Once again our friends at Stunning String Studio are offering “Aglow” yarn kits including button, beads, stitch markers, cable needle and yarn in your choice of 70+ amazing colors.

This pattern is knitCompanion® supported. What does that mean?

Details:
Skills: The pattern is fully written out and charted. Basic knit increases and decreases (yo, k2tog, ssk) are included, but anything beyond that is explained in detail. We will be doing simple cables, lace, and optional beads.

Sizes: Size is based upon shoulder girth (circumference). To determine your size, measure all the way around your shoulders above the bust. Size 1: Up to 48”, Size 2: 48-62”

Yarn: Stunning String Luxury (80% Superwash Merino, 10% Nylon, 10% Cashmere; 425 yds (389 m), 100 grams), 2 Skeins in one color - All sizes - Purple Rain shown;
Or any fingering weight yarn: Size 1: 750 yds (686 m); Size 2: 850 yds (777 m).

Recommendations: Pattern was written with solid/semi-solid colors in mind. Variegated or highly tonal yarns will lose some pattern definition.

Needles: US 6 (4.0 mm) 42” (107 cm) circular needle, or size required to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 16 stitches & 24 rows per 4” (10cm) in blocked stockinette stitch. Gauge differences will affect overall fit, size and yarn requirements.

Other: 11 Stitch Markers, 1 Shank style button about 1” (25 mm), Cable needle - I prefer the j-hook style, but use whatever you are comfortable with using.
Optional: 250-300 Seed Beads 6/0 & crochet hook US 10-14 (1.25 - 0.75 mm) or size that will fit your bead. If you prefer, you may use Super Floss or a beading tool to apply the beads.
