I have always loved antique images of fishermen in gansey sweaters. They are just so cool; I wanted one (the sweater that is).
A few details keep this perennial classic fresh and contemporary: a set-in sleeve, a wide flattering fit that’s perfect for high-waisted
pants and skirts and a wider neck opening.

Difficulty: Medium
Skills: long-tail cast-on, knitting and purling, increasing and decreasing, short rows, picking up stitches.
Gauge for stockinette: 18 sts and 28 rows = 4” / 10 cm with larger needle
Gauge for garter st: 18 sts and 32 rows = 4” / 10 cm with larger needle.

The sweater is designed for approx. 5 - 8 inches of positive ease.
The model is 5 feet 11” and her bust measurement is 36”.
She is wearing a size M in the photos.
Finished Bust Measurements (circumference):
37 (40.5, 44, 48.5, 52, 55.5)” / 92 (101, 110, 121, 130, 139) cm

Materials needed

4 (5, 5, 5, 6, 6) skeins of Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in Wolverine Blue.
One pair size 4 (3.5 mm) needles;
one pair size 6 (4 mm) needles;
one 16”/40 cm circular needle size 4 (3.5) mm; waste yarn.
