This medium weight two-color cowl is perfect for autumn, and an easy quick knit. I knit the original using Berroco Ultra Alpaca in worsted weight, using the Lavender Mix and Split Pea colorways.

The stitch pattern is an easy to work slipped stitch ribbed cable design; the fabric is attractive on both sides with an almost tweed like appearance. The almost reversible nature of this fabric works out nicely so that, as the cowl hangs a bit open, all of the fabric showing will be pretty.

I give directions for making both a medium length and shorter length version. You may increase or decrease the width of this piece in multiples of eight stitches.

I recommend using natural fibers for this piece if possible, as it requires blocking. If for some reason you need or want to use synthetic fibers, I give instructions in the pattern to alter a couple of things so as to accomodate that.
