The Ainster socks are a stranded colour work pair of socks knitted in the round. They are constructed top down with a folded cuff, heel flap, turn and gusset. The instructions are given for fingering or 4ply weight yarn (typically 400m for 100g). This pattern is suitable for intermediate knitters: the knitter is required to cast on, knit, purl, slip and pick up stitches. Previous knowledge of stranded colour work would be beneficial but is not essential as full guidance is given throughout the instructions. The pattern is suitable for knitting in the round either with double pointed or circular needles or magic loop technic. Instructions are given for a large number of foot sizes. The yarns and colours can be easily changed as long as there is a deep contrast between the main and background colour and the yarn is suitable for sock knitting. therefore that pattern is a good stash buster to great effect.
