Aix-en-Provence is a city in the south of France. Among many other sights, there is the Vasarely Foundation, established by the Hungarian-French artist and major contributor to the development of Op Art, Victor Vasarely. Many summers ago I was lucky to see his breathtaking work there.
All that said, my name is not Vasarely, but I have kept Aix-en-Provence in good memory.

Aix is a cowl worked in double knitting, using a fingering sock yarn. The pattern is charted. A short introduction into double knitting is included, but if you have never used the technique before, you may find it helpful to watch tutorials.
You can use the pattern to make a scarf as well.

Difficulty level: intermediate (double knitting, working from charts)

Yarn: 2 colors of a fingering sock yarn, 260m (284yds) of each color. Sample was made out of Lana Grossa Meilenweit Special in dark blue and Regia Color 4-ply in light blue, both of them 210m/50g (230yds/1.76oz).
If you want to knit a scarf, you will need at least 350m (382yds) of each color.

Needles: 3.5mm (US 4)

Notions: Yarn needle

Gauge: 24 stitches/28 rows = 10cm/4in in doubleknit stockinette

Size: 115cm (46in) circumference, 18cm (7 1/4in) in width

Aix-en-Provence ist eine Stadt im Süden Frankreichs. Neben vielen anderen Sehenswürdigkeiten befindet sich dort auch die Fondation Vasarely, welche von dem ungarisch-französischen Künstler Victor Vasarely gegründet wurde. Bemerkenswert ist sein Beitrag zur Entwickung der Op Art. Vor vielen Sommern hatte ich das Glück, seine atemberaubenden Werke in Aix zu sehen.
Langer Rede kurzer Sinn: Mein Name ist nicht Vasarely, aber Aix-en-Provence ist mir in guter Erinnerung geblieben.

Aix ist ein doppelgestrickter Loop aus 4-fädiger Sockenwolle. Das Muster ist in Strickschriften dargestellt. Eine kurze Einführung in die Technik ist in der Anleitung enthalten, wer sie noch nie versucht hat, wird möglicherweise Tutorials hilfreich finden. Solche gibt es in der Anleitung nicht.
Das Muster eignet sich auch gut für einen Schal.

Schwierigkeit: mittel (doppelstricken, nach einer Strickschrift arbeiten)

Garn: 2 Farben einer 4-fädigen Sockenwolle, 260m von jeder Farbe. Das Beispiel wurde aus Lana Grossa Special in Dunkelblau und Regia Color 4-fädig in Hellblau gestrickt, beide mit einer Lauflänge von 210m/50g.
Für einen Schal braucht man mindestens 350m von jeder Farbe.

Nadeln: 3.5mm
