I have a fondness for skirts with uneven hems and slanting lines, like this one which is knit seamlessly from the hem up, and finished with a grosgrain ribbon waistband and snaps for a smooth fit. The slip-stitch pattern creates a fabric that is a mixture of knitting and weaving, and will skim the body without clinging. When you knit the short rows to shape the hem, there is no need to make or hide wraps, as the slip-stitch pattern hides the turns automatically.

crochet hook in a size that creates a smooth edging (recommended size: G/4mm)

1(1.5, 1.5, 1.5, 1.75) yards grosgrain ribbon in a color that is darker than your yarn

Variegated yarn is Artfibers Rosetta, solid yarn is Tahki Jeans, shades of grey is Toluca Knit Seaport.

Note from the designer: Choose a yarn with some stretch so that your skirt will keep shape and not sag. Wool is an easy choice, but there are plant fiber options as well.
