4 (5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 8, 9) skeins needed (180 yd/3.5 oz each)

A total of 700 yards were used for the sample shown in size X-Small.

NEEDLES:

US 8 (5.0 mm) 32” circular needles or length needed to accommodate the number of body stitches for the size being worked.
US 8 (5.0 mm) dpns for sleeves {optional}.

Intermediate: This pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/Concepts include: Basic Garment Shaping, Bowknot, Bobble, and Slipped Stitches.

•Looking for a fun layering piece to add to your wardrobe as the weather transitions? Alaia is a happy and cheerful cropped sweater adorned with bowties and bobbles. This design is knit from the top down with full-length raglan style sleeves.

•The pattern includes instructions for eight sizes with 3 inches of positive ease for a looser fit that is perfect for stylish layering over dresses, tanks or tees.

One of my favorite designers is a Parisian named Azzedine Alaia. He was extremely popular for designing womenswear and footwear in the 1980’s. His designs sparked joy and happiness in all who admired them. Today, the name Alaia is a widely popular name chosen by mothers of baby girls. The name means ‘joyful and happy’. I wanted this design to bring joy and happiness to all who knit it, so I added some fun elements like bowties (or bowknots) and bobbles.
