The Alassë Míriel Hooded Cowl Pattern

Beautiful Victorian-styled hooded cowl pattern is all in one piece and has a high ribbon-laced turtle-neck collar and a generous hood that sweeps the shoulders. It stays up on its own but for windy days you can use a hairpin to secure it without losing the silhouette.

The materials required are:

2 1/10 skeins of Lion-Brand Wool-Ease worsted weight yarn
or just under 420 yards any other worsted weight yarn

1½ yard 5/8” - 1” wide satin ribbon

Pair of 32” or longer 4.5mm (US size 7) circular knitting needles for magic loop or DPNs

Pair of 32” or longer 5mm (US size 8) circular knitting needles for magic loop or DPNs

Tapestry needle

Five stitch markers

Optional: Extra needle or crochet hook for 3-needle bind off method (you can also just cast off and seam if you don’t wish to use this method)

The pattern recommends the Kitchener’s stitch bind off but you may also do a seamed bind off

Tip: Use a yarn on the heavier end of worsted. Using a lighter worsted will result in a smaller hood.
