The Alassë Míriel Hooded Cowl Pattern

Beautiful Victorian-styled hooded cowl pattern is all in one piece and has a high ribbon-laced turtle-neck collar and a generous hood that sweeps the shoulders. It stays up on its own but for windy days you can use a hairpin to secure it without losing the silhouette.

The materials required are:

2 1/10 skeins of Lion-Brand Wool-Ease yarn
or just under 420 yards any other Aran weight yarn

1½ yard 5/8” - 1” wide satin ribbon

Pair of 32” or longer 4.5mm (US size 7) circular knitting needles for magic loop or DPNs

Pair of 32” or longer 5mm (US size 8) circular knitting needles for magic loop or DPNs

Tapestry needle

Five stitch markers

Wool-Ease is an Aran weight yarn. If you use a smaller, worsted weight yarn, your project may be far too small. You will have to watch your gauge carefully. If you’re unsure, it will be best to use a heavy worsted or light bulky yarn if you’re not using Wool-Ease for your project

Optional: Extra needle or crochet hook for 3-needle bind off method (you can also just cast off and seam if you don’t wish to use this method)

The pattern recommends the Kitchener’s stitch bind off but you may also do a seamed bind off
