Inspired by traditional Norwegian mittens, Alder features a star motif on the back of the hand with a simple, vertical stripe motif on the palm. All of the sizes share the same star motif on the back of the hand. This motif is expanded or shrunk as well as used singly and doubly in order to offer this pattern in multiple sizes. The sizes will not have identical colorwork. The thumb is formed with a gusset that grows out of the side of the mittens.

The mittens are entirely charted.

SIZES
(1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

Fits approximately (child 2 – 6 yrs, child 8 – 12 yrs, adult small, adult medium, adult large)

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Hand circumference: (6, 6.75, 7.75, 8.75, 9.25) inches / (15, 17, 19.5, 21, 23.5) cm
Hand length (4.75, 5.5, 6.5, 7.25, 8) inches / (12, 14, 16.5, 18, 20) cm

Hand length does not include the ribbed cuff.

Measure the recipient’s hand length from wrist to fingertip and choose the size closest to or slightly larger than that measurement. Stranded knitting will not stretch very much.

(35, 44, 61, 77, 101) yards / (32, 40, 56, 70, 92) meters CC sport weight yarn.
