Inspired by Theia, Titan goddess of sight and shining light, this ethereal lace scarf adds elegance to any earthly wardrobe. As Theia endowed precious metals and gemstones with their characteristic brilliance, so may beads be optionally knit into this scarf for a hint of celestial sparkle!

Aletheia is versatile. Increase the width of the scarf pattern to create a gorgeous, evening shawl. Lengthen or shorten the scarf as you desire. Or, leave out the beadwork for a more casual look. Express your personal style. Create a stunning gift.

Pattern & construction notes:

The sample Aletheia scarf was knit with two strands of lace yarn held together. For a finer, more diaphanous look, use a single strand of lace. Substitute fingering or sport weight yarns to create a warmer scarf with exquisite pattern and texture.

Aletheia is constructed in one, continuous piece from beginning to end. No additional finishing is required, beyond weaving ends and blocking. (Hurrah!)

Finished size (Pima Lino Lace, after blocking): 23.5cm / 9.25” x 185.4 cm / 73”

Aletheia has received professional technical editing by KTLV, and been graciously test knit by yinlite, knittin, and JennaLynn2003.

Skill level:

Aletheia is recommended for knitters with experience in beading, cables and lace.

Although individual stitches are straightforward in themselves, there are no “resting rows” in this pattern. Lace knitting occurs in every row, so this scarf requires some extra attention. For knitters who love a pretty lace project that keeps them on their toes!
