All the Fish sleeveless
The All the Fish pattern is for a traditional-style sleeveless sweater. It is worked in the round, bottom up, from a 2x2 corrugated rib to the beginning of the armhole and V-neck shaping. To continue knitting the sleeveless sweater in the round, stitches are cast on for steeks over the armholes and V-neck opening. After the body is complete, the steeks are cut open, and the shoulders are joined using a three-needle cast-off. Stitches are picked up around each armhole, and the armhole edging is worked as a narrow corrugated rib. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neck opening, and the neckband is worked in the same rib pattern as for the armhole edging.
The colours in this sleeveless sweater are inspired by the eye-catching and colourful displays in shops selling tinned fish in many French coastal towns. The patterns continue the nautical theme: the lozenges of the large Fair Isle patterns have fishing net, star and anchor motifs; these alternate with a narrow peerie pattern with a fish motif. There are frequent changes of both pattern colours and background colours throughout the corrugated rib and stocking stitch colourwork sections.
