Additional materials needed: scissors, sewing machine, thread to hem the towel and an optional double point knitting needle for punching holes through the towel.

My grandmother, who taught me to crochet, regularly gave me these towels when I was a young bride. I’ve created this pattern using those towels as a model.

This pattern is unique among crochet kitchen towels in that the top has a tie rather than a button tab. This tie can be attached to any handle or knob while allowing the towel to hang straight, making it a versatile and useful tool in any kitchen.

This towel can be made up quickly and is a great way to use up scrap yarn in your stash. Any standard size terry or velour towel is appropriate for this pattern. Handmade kitchen towels make wonderful gifts for any occasion!
