Inspired by the delicate double diamonds, Allotrope is a crescent shaped lace shawl. Dainty diamonds make up the shawl body, whereas a delicate lace edge provides the dramatic finish.

Worked flat, top down, in one piece this shawl begins at the top center with handful of stitches. Crescent shape is achieved through increases on the right side rows of the shawl. Stitch patterns are worked on both sides of shawl. Sample shawl shown is generously sized. Pattern provides instructions to customize the size.

Circular knitting needles with sharp tips are required to accommodate rapidly growing stitch count. This shawl requires severe blocking to open up the delicate lace. If substituting, choose yarn which takes well to blocking and provides a nice drape to completed shawl.

Finished measurements:
Wingspan: Approx 106” / 269 cm
Length at center back: Approx 30” / 76 cm

Suggested yarn:
2 skeins Sunshine Yarns Luxury Sock (355 yd / 325 m per 4 oz / 115 g skein; 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon) in House of Night

Needles:
Size 6 US / 4 mm circular needle, 32” / 80 cm long or longer
It is recommended to use a needle with sharp tips for working the lace patterns. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Notions:
Stitch markers, tapestry needle, blocking supplies, cotton thread for lifeline (optional)

Gauge:
17 ½ sts and 24 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette stitch
Correct gauge is not critical for this project, but your final measurements and yardage requirement may vary if gauge is different. To save time and ensure accurate sizing, check gauge.
