The pattern for this sweater accompanies the Stitch Anatomy article on intarsia. I wanted a simple geometric design that would allow the knitter to practice the technique with less frustration so I settled on small diamonds. Add crosshatching and you have an argyle.

Since this is a design for children, I wanted to use bright colors; but after looking at the 120 colors available in Universal Deluxe Worsted, I decided to do an additional colorway. I’m not sure which one I like best. I like using sticky worsted wool for intarsia designs as I’m too paranoid to machine wash intarsia no matter how careful I weave in all of those ends, but for knitters braver than I, Universal has a Deluxe Worsted Superwash as well, in 72 colors.
