The Almost Stripes Beanie features a unique stripe using the linen stitch/moss stitch.

For the Almost Stripes Beanie, you will need one skein (or approx 200-250 yds) of Lion Brand Heartland and 30 yards of a coordinating color for the “stripes”. You can also use Lion Brand Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling, but you would need 2 skeins, plus 30 yards of additional color for the “stripes.” Because you only need a small amount for the stripes, you could probably use a scrap! Additionally, this hat looks nice all the same color as well, and one skein of Lion Brand Heartland would be enough.

You will need two hooks for this pattern, 5.5mm and 6.0 mm, or whichever meets the gauge listed at the smaller hook size. This helps to create a tight brim and looser body, so that the hat stays on well but feels comfortable.
