Aloysius’s construction is fun and easy. Knit the earflaps separately and then join them to the hat and knit in the round to the crown.

The 1X1 ribbing on the front and back of this hat allow it to fit most head sizes like magic. This hat pattern includes a size for children and a size for adults.

Style note: I chose design elements such as the gathered top, pom pom and yarn color choice to add a vintage feel. But to each their own! Leave the pom pom off and add a few more decrease rounds to omit the gather for your own taste! Let me know if this is your preference and if there is enough interest I’ll add in alternate style notes to the pattern for a second version.
