Since 2003 I’ve been lucky enough to be the sub-investigator (aka “sub-I”) on four different NIH trials for treatment of youngsters with psychiatric presentations: TEOSS (Treatment of Early Onset Schizophrenia Spectrum), LAMS (Longitudinal Assessment of Manic Symptoms), TOSCA (Treatment of Severe Childhood Aggression), and COLT (COllaborative Lithium Trial). Lucky to be able to work with my mentor, the amazing Dr. Robert Findling, lucky to work with the children and families who volunteered to be subjects, lucky to have such wonderful coworkers, and lucky to have come of age as a research clinician in psychiatry when research like this was invested in by the NIH and NIMH. This pattern is to say thank you to everybody involved in these trials, and thank you to US taxpayers, who provided the financial support in the journey to find better ways of helping children function better. The pattern incorporates the logo of the NIH and also the logo for the NIMH initiative “RDoC”, or Research Domain Criteria, which is near and dear to my heart. I’ll post more pictures as I get more experience working with 3 colors in a row, right now the work is pretty sloppy. I’m wearing this to the Cleveland March for Science, in April 2017.
