Altostratus is an asymmetrical triangular shawl that is specifically designed for variegated hand painted yarn paired with a solid or semi-solid yarn in a complementary colour.

An all-over garter stitch pattern makes this a relaxing knit. Elements of modular knitting, biased construction and change of knitting direction make this project challenging and fun. The main body of the shawl features a three-part striping sequence which adds visual interest. The outer two sequences are balanced and mirror each other, while the stripes in the centre section are based on Fibonacci Sequence Numbers.

The gauge is not critical, however the finished size and yarn usage will be different from the stated in the pattern. It requires almost the total amount of two skeins yarn in light fingering weight like Malabrigo Yarn Sock.

Yardage required (approx) - given for fingering/sock weight yarn
Total: 880 yards ( 804 meters)
Colour A: 440 yards (402 meters)
Colour B: 440 yards (402 meters)

There are special selvage stitches that make this design unique. An additional photo tutorial instruction is provided in a separate file in case you would need the guidance.
