Alva legwarmers can be worn with leggings or skirt or as gaiters over trousers with hiking boots. They are knitted top down in the round and are slightly shaped. The pattern matches at the top and bottom thirds of the garment but not in the middle, which is one of the traditional ways of knitting long stockings - and very liberating! The legwarmers can be knitted without shaping which results in loose fit around ankles.
