These magnificent creatures once roamed North America in vast herds, then nearly became extinct due to commercial hunting and slaughter in the 19th century.

This American Bison pattern will keep the knitter on their toes as they work, as it changes from flat knitting to in-the-round, seed stitch to stockinette, and yarn held double to a single strand. And that’s just the body!

The finished bison is 12” from head to tail, and 6” wide.

Learn more about this wonderful animal and 24 others when you read the pages of a naturalist as she travels the world, documenting the animals she sees, and designing knitting patterns for each one. This book was a collaboration with my children who did the artwork.
