Growing up on the harsh desert planet of Tatooine in The Phantom Menace, Anakin Skywalker and his mother, Shmi, are slaves who belong to the winged Toydarian, Watto. From an early age, Anakin demonstrates his intelligence and his love of creating things, often making droids or helpful tools to assist his mother and master. His room is a collection of machine parts, half-finished projects, and trinkets he has collected, including a pillow with a distinctive pattern. The same pattern is later seen in Episode II Attack of the Clones as part of his costume when he and Padmé flee the Capital to lie low on Naboo.

Inspired by Anakin’s unique textiles, this unisex stranded colorwork cowl starts with a provisional cast on and is then knit in the round from the bottom up in a tube. The simple Fair Isle pattern works up quickly, and the length is easily adjustable. The ends are not bound off but instead grafted together, creating a seamless loop.
