Anders Sweater
Knitting Pattern for a cosy Oversize Sweater with a structured checked pattern in sizes XS/S | M/L | XL/2XL (3XL/4XL).
Structure:
The sweater is knitted in four parts: The back part, the front part, the right and left sleeve. All parts are covered with a check pattern – worked with a combination of knit and purl stitches. Decreases are worked to shape the shoulders (except for size XS/S), the front part has a few more additional decreases to shape the round neck.
In the end, all parts are wet blocked. After closing the shoulder seams, a collar in 1x1 ribbing is attached along the neckline. The side seams of the body are closed and the sleeves are sewn too and attached to the armholes.
Major design element of the sweater is a wide range of positive ease, which makes the design very comfortable to wear and it creates a modern and cool look. The drop shoulders emphasize the look and the short, wide sleeves are working well with the design. The check pattern all over body and sleeves is easy to work, but creates a special effect.
Level of difficulty: easy
Materials:
- 1000 | 1200 | 1200 (1400) g “The Wool“ (80 m/200 g) by We Are Knitters
- 15 mm and 10 mm (circular) knitting needles)
- Darning needle
Knitting Tension:
10x10 cm = 6 sts x 8,5 rs in pattern on 15 mm knitting needles (wet
blocked)
Due to the large needle size, you have to knit 8 rs and a half r to obtain the gauge. Additionally, the sweater can grow a lot after washing and blocking – especially if you are using the original yarn. That’s why a swatch is most important to get started!
