These little bags were designed by my late Mother Ann. They are knitted in the round in one piece and lined with fabric. Mum always knitted hers with DK weight yarn but I have made three different sizes from the basic pattern using aran weight yarn, DK and thin 4 ply.

I knitted mine with one long circular needle, using the magic loop method, choosing size 4.5 mm for the biggest size, 3.5 mm for the medium and 2.5 mm for the smallest bag. They don’t take a lot of yarn; I used about 60g (big). 30g (medium) and 15g (small).

You could, of course, use any weight yarn and whatever size needles gives you the finish you like. To give you a rough idea of size, the biggest of my three bags is about 23 cm tall, the next one is 19 cm and the little one is just 13 cm.

Mum used to carry sewing projects and knitting tools in hers but I’m sure there are a multitude of uses for these fun to knit bags.

All my ravelry patterns are free to download but, if you enjoy them, please consider making a donation to the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, a charity which funds research and supports the families of children with a liver disease.
