The word “arabesque” is a musical term which means “decorative musical material or composition based on florid embellishment.” We think this lacy stole exemplifies the word in knitterly terms, being decoratively embellished with lovely lace throughout!

This is a garter stitch stole with every row knit. The stole is started at one end with a lace edging. Stitches are then picked up along the straight edge and the body of the stole is worked from this end to the other. After the body is completed, the lace edging is knit sideways onto the live stitches.
