Needles: US 4 16” circular (2 sizes smaller than needed to achieve gauge)
US 6 16” circular
US 6 DPNs (unless you are using the magic loop method)

Gauge is not very important for this pattern, especially for color B so I encourage you to use a variety of funky yarns.

Yarn A - Fingering ~200 (250, 300) yards
Yarn B - Lace, Fingering, or Sport ~50 yards

This pattern uses the Jacquard Ladderback technique to create the spider web surrounding the outside of the hat. While this is considered a more advanced technique, this pattern is otherwise very easy and each step of the ladderback technique is described in detail for each row it is used in. This pattern is meant to be beginner friendly and as such is written in the checklist format, meaning you can cross off every line as you complete them with minimal referencing of previous pages.

You are working this hat inside out, meaning the flat stockinette will be facing you while knitting with the spiderweb detail on the inside. If you have completed all of the slips and Ladderback Jacquard stitches correctly the right side while working will be entirely black with none of color B showing.

While the Jaqcuard Ladderback technique is typically used as a method of catching floats while working with colorwork, this pattern is meant to teach the skill in a fun and low stress way! If you’ve never tried if before, this is a great pattern to start!
