Materials
2 x 200g skeins (Length = 320 m / 350 yards) Lilac-4812 Aran Tweed Knitting Wool from Kilcar in Donegal, Ireland.
The Hat needs one skein and the mittens need one skein.

You can buy online from http://www.commodum.ie
It is aran weight and 100% wool. I used 8 skeins for the poncho, one for the hat and one for the mittens. It is lovely to work with and gorgeous to wear.

They also sell on eBay, just search for “Donegal yarn”.

If you don’t want to get this yarn, any aran weight will be suitable.

Equipment
4.50mm hook, needle for sewing in ends.

Tension (UK terms)
Work 14sts and 12 rows in pattern or htr 10x10cm or 4x4in using 4.50mm hook, or size required to obtain tension.
