Since making their debut in women’s and men’s fashion in the sixteenth century as hand-warmers and purses (with pockets on the interior or exterior), muffs have been made out of fur, feathers, fabric, and other soft materials. Here, Alissa Baptista applies the muff concept to knitting by working a cabled and bobbled tube. Shown at right in a megasize for dramatic effect (and to double as a travel pillow) and in a smaller size.
