Pattern description from The Celtic Collection: “The Ardagh Chalice is an astonishingly fine piece of Celtic art from the first millennium A.D. that is now in the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin. I was intrigued by the ornamental fretwork patterns on the glass studs which decorate it, and used them as the basis of this design. The diamond-shaped grid on this sweater is coloured with a mixture of soft and striking blues that resembles a work of art in stained glass.”
