Knitting a pair of argyle socks has been the final requirement for passing the Level II TKGA Master Knitter certification, and various patterns have appeared in the magazine over the years.

A very similar pattern may also be found in the Winter 2003/04 issue of Cast On. The designer is listed as Connie L. Mallette.

Pattern is given for three yarn weights (fingering, sport & worsted) with three different gauges. Sizes range from a child’s small to a Christmas stocking! Variations include making 1, 1 1/2 or 2 diamonds over the instep.<p>Yardage requirements are for the fingering weight version, in 3 colors, with small amounts of a 4th color needed.
