Aroha is a pattern inspired by a talented New Zealander dyer.
Her family lives a relaxed, creative life….one which is full of Aroha (the New Zealand Maori word for love).
This pattern gives you the opportunity to express your own creativity and Aroha, by choosing how to highlight the subtle heart detailing within the body of the slouch style hat.

Aroha has been updated on January 8th 2014, and is now a seamless pattern that comes in 8 sizes (from newborn to adult), 2 hat lengths (beanie or slouch), and in 3 yarn weights (4ply/fingering, 8ply/dk, and 10ply/worsted).

CONSTRUCTION
This pattern is a slouch hat.
The pattern has you casting on and working a twisted rib brim. Once the brim is complete the body of the hat is worked in purl stitch, with carefully placed knit stitches. These stitches form a column of little hearts running up the side of the hat.
Upon completion of the knit, simple chain stitches (either using a darning needle or crochet hook) are worked around the subtle heart detailing in the body of the hat. Choose to outline all the hearts or just one….let your creativity and mood guide you!
SKILLS REQUIRED
Knitting small circumferences in the round
Chain stitch (with darning needle or crochet hook)

The Aroha pattern was designed in May 2013 for a July hand-dyed yarn stocking at Jodulbug Creations on Facebook.com.
