“Artemis”
This shawl has been designed using the basket weave stitch style seen on shawls in the 1800s.

It’s a twist on a crescent shaped shawl that is then finished to give a wide straight rib edge allowing the shawl to be worn in different manners.

Dk weight has been used, again in keeping with the 1800s when this style of shawl would have been a necessity for warmth rather than accessory.

It requires two skeins of hand dyed yarn or the required yardage as stated in the pattern of other dk weight you wish to use. I have used a silk and merino blend for the example shown here in the photographs.

Its name has been taken from a ship and a Greek Goddess, the neck edges with their open appearance represent the rigging of the sails, then blending into the woven effect of the basket weave stitches.

Whichever yarn you choose for this piece, I hope it brings much pleasure and enjoyment
