Ashaway is the second pattern in my Knit Fresh Rhode Island e-book!There will be a total of 12 patterns in all, 3 of which will only be available as part of the ebook. Patterns will be released monthly or thereabouts :).
The idea for this ebook came to me after spending a good amount of time visiting various sheep and wool fairs in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and reading more about smaller yarn producers.
This project is my way of combining my love of Rhode Island with my love of yarn! All of the patterns will use yarns that are made in Rhode Island.
Projects will include hats, mittens, scarves, and shawls. All are designed to use one or two skeins and are a great way to try out some unique yarns and support small businesses.
When you subscribe to the ebook, you will receive periodic notices when a new pattern is ready.
Ashaway is a cushy, cabled cowl designed to keep the chill off. Button tabs add a little extra style and are perfect for showing off those special buttons you’ve been holding on to. The cowl is worked flat beginning with a provisional cast on. The seam is finished by grafting. The button flaps are picked up and knit last.
Yarn used is from Seldom Seen Farm in Chepachet, RI. It is a natural 2 ply Border Leicester Lambswool.
Sheep and wool festival season is upon us! I’m sure you could easily find a comparable yarn if you visit one. A commercially available worsted weight that works up at the same gauge could also be substituted.
Buttons are from Katrinkles, https://www.etsy.com/shop/katrinkles. Pretty much my favorite buttons.
