Ashley Elizabeth is named for a friend of mine who found a super adorable headband at a flea market. She loved the idea of not wearing a hat, but she didn’t like the sequins and embellishments the flea market version had. I decided to design a simple but pretty headband that buttons at the back (so you don’t have to mess up your hair) and is double thick for double warmth.

The headband was designed to be a skill-building project, so it incorporates some interesting techniques including:

  • Judy’s Magic Cast-On (any provisional cast on can be substituted)
  • I-Cord
  • Lifted increases
  • Slipped stitches to make a tube lay flat
  • Kitchener Stitch/Grafting

The texture design is both charted and written out, so you can use this as an opportunity to learn to read charts, too.

Grab a cool button and some worsted weight…Ashley Elizabeth will keep you stylish and warm no matter the weather!
