Another design from the Little Book of Fairy Tales, this time centred on the role of the Fairy Godmother, through the story of Ashputtel, a Cinderella-ish tale where role of helper is key.

This crescent shaped shawl has two laces, one for Ashputtel, and the other for her fairy godmother. They can be repeated indefintely, worked in either order, or alternately, or individually.

Optional beading for a touch of magic.

Adaptable to any yardage of lace to DK weight yarn.

Written and charted, with pattern worked on the RS only.

This is the shawl for remembering those who have helped you in moments of need, or when you’ve been touched by serendipity.

Special thanks to Gannet Designs for sharing the stitch patterns on which this design has been based, to sandra8981 and catnach for constantly working their magic in the Nimble Knits group, and also to fifigirl for the beautiful ashen-hued yarn that turned up in my letterbox just at the right moment.

You never know when a random act of kindness will have a profound effect on someone else.

My notes and bead calculations can be found here.
