This triangular shawl pattern is geared towards the shawl knitting beginner. The idea of ever increasing the number of stitches can be quite daunting.
This pattern starts out from the center with a provisional cast on. Decreasing one stitch in every other row makes the rows shorter and shorter. The simple garter stitch is easy to do and the small leaf border keeps it from getting really boring.
Once one half is completed the stitches for the other half are picked up and with a slight modification for the leaf border this shawl will be completed in no time.
Note: No yarn has been specified on purpose. You pick whatever yarn you like and whatever stitch count you like. How ever large (shawl) or small (kerchief) you would like your project to be. The sample was completed in a DK weight with 132 stitches cast on. It has a wingspan of 80 inches and a depth of 32 inches after blocking.
This will be an excellent choice for variegated yarns!
