This design started as a request from a friend who wanted a knitted headband. She is very feminine and likes a bit of vintage, so I created this piece for her with pretty little bells as a border, followed with a beautiful heart-shaped surrounding little teardrops.

The twisted stitches are easy to create and no cable needle is required. You can make this with virtually any yarn, though it is best to measure wearer’s head first for the best fit.

Yarn
Small Headband:
Skein Merino/Silk Sport – 50% merino
wool / 50% silk, 363 yds / 332 m per 3.35 oz / 95 g;
1 skein, shown in colorway Barley
Larger Headband:
Dragonfly Fibers Traveller – 100% merino wool, 280 yds / 256 m per 3.53oz / 100g; 1 skein, shown in colorway Red Bud

  • Or approx 75 yds / 65 m for small headband of a sportweight yarn &
  • 105 yds / 95 m for large headband of a dk weight yarn
