My son was on the committee of his University Archery club. At the beginning of the year they always have a kind of fair for all the new first years to see what clubs are available. For the Archery club some of the members manning the stall wanted to dress up a bit and I offered to knit an asymmetric cowl like the one from the Hunger Games film.
I had to make up the pattern (and guess at the sizing since I didn’t know who was going to wear it) I couldn’t find any large gauge circular needles in my local shops but, inspired by a craftster tutorial,
( https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=6638.0 ) I got my son to make me a pair. They’re about 13 mm diameter
I used three strands of three ply held together. It took nine 50 gram balls of Elle Baby Soft three ply in Denim and Oyster.
Sorry the link to the craftster tutorial no longer works since Craftster closed Dec 2019. RIP
