Description: Atlantis is Calling is a cozy cowl that balances bold, ancient-looking cables with a touch of lace. Although named for the 1986 Modern Talking song, Atlantis is Calling is inspired by Disney’s underrated Atlantis: The Lost Empire. The carving-like pattern call to mind stonework of a lost civilization. Purl lace makes the cables pop and the cowl lightweight, and prevents your neck from overheating.

Thanks to the lace between cables, this pattern is ideal for very warm fibers such as angora, cashmere, and llama. Made in a cotton or linen blend yarn, this could easily become a springtime accessory.

Skill Level: Intermediate. Cowl is worked in the round and uses basic cable crosses. See “Abbreviations & Special Stitches” section on preview image in Photos for all stitches used.

Materials:

  • 5.5 mm/I-9 crochet hook for crochet cast on (not needed if using knitted cast on)
  • cable needle
  • stitch marker to mark end of rounds
  • yarn needle
