Nothing captures a care-free, bohemian spirit quite like this oversized V-neck crocheted hooded sweater. It features beautiful pineapple pattern with scalloped edges and drawstring tie at the neck. My favorite way to wear it would be as a form of summer layering: put it over a shirt or a top and it completely changes the look of an otherwise usual outfit. Or wear it over a dress for more bohemian look. The original crochet tunic by Free People it’s already sold out, but you can make your OWN creation! : ).

Choosing the right YARN and HOOK to achieve great results

For the original look use mixed loosely woven yarn of 55 % cotton and 45 % silk (or bourette silk), 210 - 240 m in 100 gr (230-265 yds in 3.5 oz). Take approx. 500 - 550 gram of cotton/silk yarn with the length 210 m in 100 gr.

Good results are achieved with mixed loosely woven yarn of 50 % cotton (or linen) and 50 % rayon (or bamboo, tencel, soya, silk) because cotton/linen give pineapple motifs strength and rayon/bamboo etc. give nice draping. For example, Fuji, LB Collection Cotton Bamboo, Bamboo Cotton Solids, DROPS Cotton Viscose. Check the length of yarn in 100 gr (3.5 oz) since some producers label yarn between 210 - 240 m in 100 gr as 8 ply (UK, AU), DK-weight, 3 or Light (USA) and some - as 10 ply (UK, AU), Worsted-weight, 4 or Medium (USA).

Size:
If your gauge fits, the size will be just as in the original tunic (one size but fits all):
Length: 27” = 68.7 cm.
Bust (all around, size S): 46” = 117 cm
Bottom Opening (all around, size S): 46” = 117 cm
For larger sizes use thicker yarn or bigger hook than recommended.
If you prefer less ease use smaller hook/thinner yarn.
