So you want to learn to knit? Yay! This simple scarf is a great place to begin. Not only will it keep you warm all winter long, but you will have made it with your own two hands!

Learning to knit is a journey, so be patient with yourself. Take deep breaths and breaks when you feel it becomes a struggle. Know that Rome wasn’t built in a day, and it takes time and practice. The beauty of working on a scarf with thick yarn, is it won’t take a you a lifetime to finish and by the end you will be a knitting pro!

This is a great project for someone brand new to knitting because all you need to do is knit every row until the piece measures the desired size. Knitting every row is called Garter Stitch. We named it the AUM scarf, after the sacred sound. Chanting AUM over and over can be meditative and relaxing, just like knitting once you get the groove of it.

We would love to see a picture of your finished AUM Scarf. So, snap a pic and share it on Instagram. Tag @raglineknits in the photo for a chance to be featured on our site!
