Reminiscent of the colors of ocean mist in the early morning, Auri (Ionic Greek for breeze) is a large wrap with a simple three-color striping pattern that creates a beautiful gradient. The wrap is knit in Garter Stitch from the top down and is shaped with alternating increase rows. Short rows help give Auri height without too much length across the wingspan and the resulting shape is crescent-like, but asymmetrical, which gives it a unique look and allows it to be worn easily without long ends on both sides. In Baah’s fingering weight merino, silk, and cashmere blend, Aspen, Auri is lighter than air and luxurious both on and off the needles.

Specific yarn requirements:
Baah! Aspen (75% Merino, 15% Silk, 10% Cashmere; 330 yds/ 302 m per 100g); 1 skein each of Sirena (A), Sky (B), and Misty (C)
Or, 3 colors of a fingering or sport weight yarn: 230 yds/ 210 m of A, 300 yds/ 274 m of B, and 320 yds/ 292 m of C

Needles:
US 6 (4 mm) circular needles, at least 32”/ 80 cm long, or size needed to obtain gauge

22 September, 2014: The instructions (rows and repeats) are all correct, but stitch counts on page 3 are all off by 5. If instructions were followed as written while knitting, the shawl will be correct. Stitch counts were updated in version 2 of the pattern.
