This DK-weight cardigan was born from my wish for an elegant and casual cardigan that would fit with my entire wardrobe. I wanted a cardigan in pelsull yarn to keep me warm even when it’s windy, and lots of mindless stockinette to send me right into a state of flow. The cardigan is worked top-down, with steeks for the armholes and neckline so that you mostly have to work knit-stitches.

I hope you will enjoy this pattern, and if you need any help, please do not hesitate to contact me in my Ravelry group ‘Skeindeer Knits’. It’s the best place for swift support.

Or any other DK-weight, non-superwash, woollen-spun yarn sticky wool yarn that’s suitable for steeking. Alternatively you can use any yarn and secure the steeks with sewing machine seams.

Construction
The Austfjord Cardigan is worked top-down with steeks for the armhole and cardigan opening so you can work seamlessly in the round throughout while increasing for the neckline.

The larger sizes also have some increases for the body, so that all sizes will have a relatively similar shoulder fit, with only a small drop over the shoulders across sizes.

The pattern offers optional waist shaping, with decreases on each side of the body from underarm to hem.
